What does a Therapeutic Riding Class look like?

The answer to that is as varied as the student. However, we try to make it as much like a comprehensive horseback riding class that anyone would have. Classes are customized to students according to their ability. Typically the student will fetch their trusty steed, groom, tack (saddle and bridle), then mount the horse. After that the student will work on a riding skill (we have a progression of levels of riding skills that they will learn) – as ability allows. Then we usually have a game that reinforces the riding skill. Somewhere in there we will fit in a short trail ride. Afterwards, we may do some unmounted leading of the horse or grooming after removing tack etc. Every day is different, every student is different.
